CHAMPIONS
We have been asked many times who people should follow to find out more about sun bears and the efforts to save them. Therefore we have created a list of sun bear champions that we strongly recommend checking out.
Please note, we are not associated with the groups mentioned below but we have found their stories and achievements to be inspirational over the years.
Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre
The BSBCC mission is to educate people on endangered Sun Bears, rescue imperiled bears & reintroduce rehabilitated bears to the wild.

BSBCC was founded by Dr. Wong Siew Te.
Sumatran Sun Bear Team
The Sumatran Sun Bear Team are building Sumatra’s very first Sun Bear rescue and conservation centre.
As said by Lesley Small “we know that it’s needed to save the vulnerable Sun Bears in Sumatra”
Project Borneo
Project Borneo is a Malaysian conservation organisation and UK-based charity, and is a development of Project Orangutan, started by founder and CEO Leo Biddle in 2006.

Starting with orangutans, they now care for other animals including sun bears.
Animal Assist
Supporting grassroots animal welfare and conservation organisations in the SE Asia Pacific Region.

Among many things, they provide veterinary and environment enrichment supplies to sun bears and other animals.
Animals Asia
Animals Asia is devoted to ending bear bile farming and improving the welfare of animals across Asia.
Free the Bears
Since 1995 Free the Bears have rescued over 950 moon and sun bears. Their mission is to protect, preserve and enrich the lives of bears throughout the world
Sun Bear Outreach
Sun Bear Outreach is a non-profit charity registered in France and founded in 2014 by Patrick Rouxel. Since 2014, they have collaborated with wildlife rescue centres in Indonesia to build, renovate and improve large forest enclosures for sun bears. They also train the local staff to animal welfare and the needs of the sun bears.
Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT)
A wildlife rescue and rehabilitation sanctuary in Thailand. Currently caring for 700+ animals, including more than 30 bears (22 are Malayan sun bears).
